Let’s hear from Caroline about what inspired her to start Kyeni Ensemble
Looking back, designing Kyeni Ensemble as a multi-vendor platform was a continuation of my involvement in community service and promoting literacy. I like creating avenues that benefit people and transform communities.
While in graduate school, I first developed an interest in contemporary writing. At that time, I would write quotes in my notebook. I would sometimes picture myself writing play scripts, and as the years went by, I became more interested in the world of writing and storytelling. I eventually decided to document my stories through writing books and storytelling.
Recently, I wrote a manuscript for a kid’s book that was inspired by my children’s experiences during their first trip to Kenya. While I have not published this book just yet, this was the catalyst that really inspired my journey and led to my founding of the Kyeni Ensemble platform. The idea of starting a multi-vendor online books marketplace is something I dreamt of doing and I started to take the first steps toward making this a reality.
